About OX4 Pickups

Ox4 Pickups was founded in 2011 by guitarist Mark Stow. His pickups are highly regarded as one of the best aftermarkets PAF tones around. Each pickup is hand made in Oxford England from the finest materials available. Through reverse engineering and research every part has been painstakingly recreated from an original 58 PAF Humbucker. Baseplates, Covers, Bobbins, keepers, slugs and spacers are made for Ox4 here in the UK, along with sandcast alnico magnets charged to vintage specs. The wire is 42 PE from USA the best quality available. The standard Ox4 PAF is a low wind Alnico 4 magnet – this is a direct recreation of a 58 PAF that I own, bright and articulate. Ox4 offers a Duane Pickup that is influenced from the Fillmore live record and features overwound coils with A5 magnets for lots of topend bite. The Beano set is inspired from the early Blues Breakers sound, open coils and A3 magnets that push the mids. The P90s use A4 mags as standard and wound to the same specs as a 56 LP that I owned. The 51’4 Tele set is classic blackguard tones, spanky neck and a perfectly balanced bridge that cuts through with lots of overtones. Ox4 was designed by a musician for musicians, the pickups are the best in the industry and have been featured on many stages and recordings around the world.

Each pickup is made to order, hand wound and assembled using the best materials and components available. Bobbins, baseplates, covers, slugs and keepers are made by Ox4 Pickups with vintage correct materials. Pickups OHM is between 7.1k to 8.9k depending on what wind is required.
